well testing oil and gas

BeyondPetro understands that extracting oil and gas from beneath the Earth can be incredibly difficult. So that oil and gas is hard to find, difficult to extract/produce process into a safe useable product. A key function of oil and gas companies is to test their wells, to determine if the oil or natural gas that they locate can be extracted economically. This process is known as well testing and it's a vital stage in the exploration journey of these resources.

This is important because it allows companies to know how much oil and gas a well can actually yield. They need to have this information in order for them to determine if a new well can be suitable for capturing oil and gas profitably. Testing of the well allows engineers to recognise certain details (such as your daily production rate, total oil & gas in place and how much can be produced) which help them answer questions like 'how fast will it flow?' or alternatively; 'when will this thing stop producing?' Thus, companies are able to spend less time and money making sure they reach users at the best part of their lifecycle.

Techniques for Accurate Well Testing in Oil and Gas Reservoirs

Engineers have different types of methods and tools to test these wells. Drillstem testing Production test Injection Test Drillstem testing entails running a specialized tool to place in the bottomhole assembly well down hole. This tool collects key values on the pressure, temperature and constituents of fluid inside the well. Production testing is a totally different beast as that's when you do all the potential flowing of oil and gas at high or low flow-rates from new perforations. Injection testing is similar to production testing, however as opposed to extracting oil and gas from the well it pushes fluid down into the ground where there are petroleum deposits in order test how that part of underground will react under pressure.
